Well, surgery went sideways... they attempted to do it laparoscopically but couldn’t, so they has to go back and make a big cut. All said and done I was under for almost 5 hours. Apparently my appendix was about ready to explode.
So after surgery, I learned a fun new fact about myself - I’m immune to opiates! They pumped me up with Delauded, Morphine, and Fentanyl and it did jack and shit. This was around midnight and I haven’t slept a wink since and I’m feeling a little cranky.
Also, F an NT Tube! At least, I think thats whatits ca lled. Its a tube they shove up your nose and navigate down to your stomach to pump out any bile or mucus that back flows. Its gross and nasty and I had virtually zero back flow and was ready to have it out at 0230 this morning. I just got it out a few minutes ago. And it was gross.
But hey, at least I improved my power to weight ratio by shedding unnecessary mass. Colin Chapmin would approve!

Good morning! Glad to hear that you’re out of it and safe now. Now you get to have a scar to show the kids when you tell them the story of the Great Appendix War of 2020.

Fuck, that did go sideways. Good to hear you came through ok.
It's an NG tube, and yeah, they suck (punny) going in or coming out. I had one for a couple weeks. Some people use them long term, and swap them in and out on their own (see YT). I can't imagine how they can do it.

Thanks!
Couple of weeks? Holy shit. I was done after a couple hours. You, sir, are a better man than I. And they put my in while I was under, so I only had to deal with it coming out.

Im trying. Talked to the doc and they are going to try a non-narcotic pain killer on me, so hopefully I can finally get some sleep.

Well, they do make me feel warm and fuzzy inside, which is nice, but they don't do what I need them to do, which is stop the pain.

Oh yeah, could have gone all kinds of wrong. I talked to the doc just a few minutes ago and got the lowdown on why they had to switch mid procedure. It wasnt good.

A shame about that opiate thing though... Sorry about that.

Ouch...
Seems like the worst of it is behind you though and definitely good that you were able to get it out before it burst.

Sorry to hear that, but, on the plus side, you’re alive, and you don’t have a ruptured appendix leaking infected funk all over the inside of your body.

Dang you are a hero for undergoing that. Immune to Opiates? That’s even worse.

That ain’t no fun. Abdominal surgery is the worst.
See if they’ll give you some Demerol. I had a similar lack of response to morphine, but a shot of D really did the trick.

Fixedly angered is good since it means you are fighting to heal. Have the wife ask if she can bring in a small fan.

In my case it was a feeding tube. You get to the point where it almost feels like nothing while it's in. It's really just the in & out that's rough.
